“Come and have a go at being a theatre critic. Live audience wanted for a workshop of a new play by Warren Cabral. Audience to complete a questionnaire for further development of the script and its next step into the West End.
‘On the Line’ is a Comedy-Drama exploring Modern Manners, and the workshop will be conducted as a staged rehearsed reading directed by Barrett Loades.
The concept of the play is a comedy-drama set in a call-centre where a recently dumped, out-of-work actor, a 40 year-old male, is a trainee (a boomer!!) and is a bit out of touch with the modern woman. He makes numerous faux-pas with both colleagues and callers, but, after all sorts of skulduggery with sleazy theatre types, he eventually gets a stage role, learns the ropes with modern women and wins his girlfriend back. He is variously described as “hot” or a “dinosaur” by the diverse cast. We see the effects of social media and the public and private faces that we all wear.
