Blue Fire Theatre Company returns to the Tea House Theatre with a long awaited show Kemp’s Jig.
In 1599 (or 1600 depending on which calendar one uses), Will Kemp, superstar of the European stage and chief clown of the Lord Chamberlain’s Men fell out with the playwright and fellow company shareholder William Shakespeare, resigned his shares and as any high-profile personality might do, staged an event.
To celebrate Twelfth Night, come back in time to 1600 and meet Will Kemp, champion morris dancer, international celebrity and Shakespeare's clown.
The creator of Launcelot Gobbo, Dogberry and other Shakespearean comic characters has just left the Globe Theatre (did he jump or was he pushed?) and is setting off on a publicity stunt to cash in on his fame. He is about to morris dance 125 miles from London to Norwich and would love you to accompany him en route.
Join us on the highways and byways of Elizabethan England and witness Will's adventures on the road; we'll even throw in a bit of bear baiting and a hanging for good measure!
