Join us by the fireplace with the unique atmosphere of the Tea House Theatre for autumn Fireside Reading by Holdfast Theatre Company.
The Inferno, perhaps the most stirring masterpiece from the Middle Ages, Dante Alighieri's The Inferno, a new translation by Ciaran Carson.
‘Carson gives us a much racier Inferno than most other have done, one in which the language makes eloquent upward soarings at one moment and vulgar dives deep into the vernacular at the next, moving like a bolt of lightning from gravity to punchy immediacy. There is a surprising amount of playful humour. iIt reads jauntily, even balladically at times.’ - Financial Times
The fire will be lit and our trio of storytellers will take you for a spiritual journey. Guided by the soul of the Roman poet Virgil, you will travel down through the nine circles of Hell, witnessing the punishments eternally suffered by the souls of deceased sinners.
